Abstract

During the growth and development of early childhood, parents or educators have a very important role in fulfilling nutritional needs through food consumed daily. Foods that have balanced nutrition consist of carbohydrate, fat, protein, vitamin, and mineral intake which is beneficial for child growth and development. This research uses a qualitative method. Qualitative research is conducted by describing an actual situation or often called facts. Data collection was done through observation and interviews with the school. Through the lunch program, of course, there are positive effects for children, teachers, and parents who are involved in it. Such as maintaining the nutritional status of children, introducing healthy foods, habituation of eating manners, PSHB and improving children's social attitudes along with the culture of eating together. In addition to the benefits in organizing the lunch program, there are also challenges that must be faced, such as the possibility of allergies, children having difficulty eating, children who tend not to like vegetables. Therefore, the program of introducing balanced nutritional food to children is carried out gradually and patiently, it is necessary to improve new innovations and creative ideas for teachers and parents so that children enjoy the lunch program.
