Moderation of Islamic Education According to Al-Ghazali
Abstract
Since some time ago the term moderation was considered the key to solving various problems that plagued all aspects of life, including the important aspect, of education. Education is always considered the root of all problems, it is often criticized and blamed, although in the end it is still used as the foundation. In the era of disruption that is gradually passing through the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, and gradually entering the era of society 5.0, education moderation seems to be an important keyword. This study aims to formulate the concept of educational moderation according to Al-Ghazali, an encyclopedic figure who in Mustafa Al-Maraghi's language is called, rajulun fihi rijal. His thoughts and ideas have been continuously practiced in various Islamic educational institutions, especially Islamic boarding schools. The methodology used is qualitative with a library research approach. The data collected comes from primary data, namely various writings of Al-Ghazali or writings of figures about Al-Ghazali, and secondary data, namely, all sources of writing that are by the object of study. This data was analyzed using content analysis to produce essential findings. The results of the analysis show that the concept of educational moderation according to Al-Ghazali is formulated from Al-Ghazali's conceptions of the meaning of moderation which is commensurate with tajdid, education, science, human resources both teachers and students which are very relevant to the era of disruption, especially the era of society 5.0 which is oriented towards on strengthening the human role.
